Immunisations and vaccinations — Newstead, Fortitude Valley & Brisbane CBD

Protecting you and your family at every stage of life

At Next Practice Newstead, we provide comprehensive immunisation and vaccination services for patients of all ages, delivered by our experienced GPs in a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment. Whether you need routine childhood vaccinations, an annual flu shot, catch-up immunisations, or tailored travel vaccines before your next overseas trip, our team is here to provide personalised, evidence-based immunisation care that helps protect you, your family, and the broader community.

We take a proactive approach to preventive health, and immunisation is one of the most important tools we have. Our GPs take the time to review your vaccination history, discuss your individual health needs, and ensure your immunisation plan is right for you — not just a box to tick.

Vaccines available at Next Practice Newstead

Our GPs administer a wide range of vaccines to support patients across every stage of life. We offer government-scheduled vaccines listed under the National Immunisation Program (NIP) for eligible patients, as well as private vaccinations tailored to your individual health needs, lifestyle, and risk factors.

Childhood and adolescent immunisations are available across all key developmental stages, ensuring your little ones are protected from the earliest age through to their teenage years. For adults, we provide boosters, catch-up vaccinations, and targeted immunisations based on your health history and circumstances.

Our seasonal influenza vaccines are available annually and are strongly recommended for everyone, particularly young children, pregnant women, older adults, and people living with chronic health conditions.

For women who are pregnant, we offer pregnancy-related vaccinations including influenza and whooping cough (pertussis), supporting the health and protection of both mother and baby.

Vaccine availability may vary. Please contact the clinic to confirm current stock and eligibility before your appointment.

Who should get vaccinated?

Immunisation is recommended for everyone, and is especially important for infants, children, and adolescents following the National Immunisation Program schedule; adults requiring boosters or catch-up doses; pregnant women; older adults; people living with chronic medical conditions or a weakened immune system; travellers heading to higher-risk destinations; and healthcare workers or those in high-contact roles.

If you are unsure whether your vaccinations are up to date, our GPs are happy to review your records and provide guidance at your next appointment.

Travel vaccinations in Brisbane

Planning an overseas trip? Our GPs provide personalised pre-travel consultations, recommending and administering destination-specific vaccines based on your itinerary, travel duration, and individual health status. We also offer guidance on additional travel health precautions to help keep you safe and well throughout your journey.

We recommend booking your travel vaccination appointment at least six to eight weeks before your departure date to allow adequate time for your immunisations to take effect.

What to expect at your immunisation appointment

Before administering any vaccine, your GP will review your medical history, current health status, and vaccination records to ensure your immunisation plan is safe and appropriate for you. All vaccines are stored and handled in strict accordance with cold chain guidelines to maintain their effectiveness.

Your appointment is also an opportunity to ask questions, raise any concerns, and update your immunisation records — so you leave with a clear picture of where you stand and what, if anything, you may need in the future.
