Safe, efficient, expert procedural care in a modern, fully equipped medical setting

At Next Practice Newstead, our purpose-built treatment room allows us to deliver a broad range of small procedures and in-clinic treatments safely and efficiently, right here at our Wickham Street clinic. We welcome patients from Newstead, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane CBD, New Farm, Teneriffe, Bowen Hills, Spring Hill, Hamilton, Albion, Herston, Newmarket, South Brisbane, the Gabba, and the broader Brisbane inner-city community, with free on-site parking available.

Having access to a dedicated, fully equipped treatment room within our GP clinic means that many procedures and treatments that would otherwise require a visit to a hospital emergency department or specialist facility can be managed safely and promptly right here. That means less time waiting and high-quality procedural care close to where you live and work.

Our nursing team works alongside our GPs throughout every procedure, providing skilled, attentive care from start to finish.

Small Procedures and In-Clinic Treatments Available

  • Minor accident and emergency care: assessment and treatment of minor injuries and acute presentations including lacerations, minor burns, sprains, and other conditions that require prompt clinical attention but don't necessitate a hospital emergency department visit. If you're unsure whether your condition is suitable for management at our clinic, please call us and our team will advise you.
  • Ingrown toenail removal: performed under local anaesthetic by our experienced GPs, providing surgical management of painful or infected ingrown toenails in a clean, well-equipped clinical environment.
  • Iron infusions: intravenous iron infusions administered by our nursing team under GP supervision. See our dedicated Iron Infusion Clinic page for more information, including how to book.
  • Contraceptive implant insertion and removal: performed by our trained GPs. See our dedicated IUD and Contraceptive Implant page for more information, including how to book.
  • Wound care and dressings: professional wound assessment, cleaning, and dressing changes for acute wounds, post-surgical wounds, chronic wounds, and ulcers requiring ongoing clinical management, with clear guidance on self-management between appointments.
  • Skin procedures: removal or biopsy of skin lesions, moles, cysts, and other dermatological concerns requiring minor surgical intervention. See our dedicated Skin Checks page for more information, including how to book.

For minor accident and emergency care, ingrown toenail removal, and wound care, you're welcome to book online. For iron infusions, contraceptive implants, and skin procedures, please see the linked pages for the correct booking process for that specific service.

Our Modern Treatment Room

Next Practice Newstead's treatment room has been designed and equipped to a high clinical standard, ensuring that all small procedures are performed in a safe, sterile, and well-resourced environment. Our treatment room is maintained in accordance with infection control protocols and Australian clinical governance requirements.

When to Come to Us Versus When to Go to Hospital

Our treatment room is designed to manage a wide range of minor acute presentations and planned procedures safely within a general practice setting. For serious or life-threatening emergencies, including chest pain, difficulty breathing, stroke symptoms, severe bleeding, or major trauma, please call 000 or proceed directly to your nearest hospital emergency department immediately.

If you are ever unsure whether your condition is appropriate for management at our clinic, please call us and our team will guide you to the right level of care.

What to Expect at Your Procedure Appointment

Before proceeding with any procedure, your GP will conduct a thorough assessment of your condition, explain clearly what the procedure involves, discuss any relevant risks or considerations, and obtain your informed consent. Local anaesthetic is used where appropriate.

Following your procedure, your GP or nurse will provide clear aftercare instructions, advise you on what to expect during recovery, outline any signs of concern to watch for, and let you know when to return for a follow-up or dressing change if required.

Fees vary depending on the procedure. Our Patient Advocates can confirm pricing when you book.
