Access convenient, high-quality care from anywhere with personalised telehealth consultations
Next Practice Newstead offers Telehealth consultations for existing patients, providing the flexibility to see your regular GP by phone or video from the comfort of your home, workplace, or wherever suits you best, with the same standard of care you would receive at our clinic on Wickham Street, Fortitude Valley.
Whether you are unable to attend in person due to illness, a busy schedule, caring responsibilities, or simply prefer the convenience of a remote consultation, Telehealth appointments at Next Practice Newstead make it easier to access the care you need without compromising on quality.
We offer two Telehealth consultation options for existing patients:
Phone consultations, a straightforward telephone appointment with your GP, suitable for many routine matters including medication reviews, referral requests, discussion of test results, and follow-up consultations. Video consultations, a face-to-face appointment conducted via a secure video platform, allowing your GP to see you and conduct a more thorough visual assessment where required. Video consultations are particularly useful for skin concerns, visible symptoms, or when a more personal connection is preferred.
Your Patient Advocate team can help you determine which format is most appropriate for your needs when you book.
Telehealth consultations are suitable for a wide range of healthcare needs, including repeat prescription requests and medication reviews; discussion of blood test results or other investigation findings; mental health consultations and GP mental health treatment plan reviews; referrals to specialists or allied health practitioners; management of minor illnesses and symptoms that do not require a physical examination; chronic disease management and care plan reviews; and follow-up appointments for previously assessed conditions.
Some clinical matters will require an in-person visit, your GP will advise you if this is the case and assist you in booking an appropriate appointment at the clinic.
Telehealth consultation fees at Next Practice Newstead are the same as our standard in-person appointment fees. There are no additional charges for choosing to consult remotely, you receive the same level of care at the same cost, with the added benefit of flexibility and convenience.
Please speak with our Patient Advocates at the time of booking for specific fee information relevant to your consultation type and Medicare eligibility.
Telehealth appointments are available to existing patients of Next Practice Newstead. If you are not yet a patient at our clinic, we encourage you to book an initial in-person appointment so that your GP can establish a relationship with you and access your full health history, ensuring your Telehealth consultations are as safe and effective as possible going forward.
If you are unsure whether Telehealth is right for your particular health concern, our Patient Advocates are happy to assist you in choosing the most appropriate appointment type.
To make the most of your Telehealth consultation, we recommend finding a quiet, private space where you can speak openly with your GP; ensuring your phone or device is charged and has a stable internet connection for video appointments; having a list of any questions, symptoms, or concerns you would like to discuss ready before your appointment; and having any relevant medications on hand so your GP can review them during the consultation if needed.
Your GP will contact you at the scheduled appointment time via your preferred method, phone or video link.
